We meet Sin-Dee Rella ( Kitana Kiki Rodriguez) a transgender sex worker who – fresh from a short stay in prison – finds out from close friend Alexandra ( Mya Taylor) that the man’s she’s in love her – who happens to her pimp – has cheated on her. Set on December 24, we’re thrown head first on to the streets of Los Angeles. It’s a Christmas film without been a Christmas film. This special presentation also comes complete with a 60-page book with new essays on filmmaker Sean Baker and the film’s enduring legacy from both a technical perspective (it was shot on an iPhone 5s), and from a thematic one (with Baker showcasing marginalised groups in UK with compassion and humour). The film, which has been described as a “one-crazy-night picture” in The Guardian, will be available in a rigid slipcase with brand new artwork by Caelin White at FEM-Design. Sean Baker’s brilliant Tangerine is set to get the special limited edition Blu-ray presentation it deserves courtesy of Second Sight Films in the UK.
